AdvantageBuilder is the proprietary database platform that powers all TargetRx solutions. It includes our normative attitudinal and prescribing databases, our survey engine, our analytical methods and our patented and validated predictive models. Its robust norms enable clients to understand how their initiatives compare to the industry, and its predictive models accurately translate what a healthcare professional "says" on a survey (in response to a new product, campaign, rep interaction, and more) into what he or she will most likely do and why. By uncovering likely future prescribing behavior as well as what drives behavior, marketing, market research and sales teams can focus on the most critical actions that will drive their businesses.
How does it work?
Our platform was created by systematically capturing healthcare professionals' attitudes (in-depth perceptions, intentions, and more) and information about market forces/influencers (promotional activities, formulary status, and more) and then merging this information with related prescribing behavior for over 500 pipeline and inline brands (in approximately 50 therapeutic categories) over more than nine years. Many companies offer huge databases of past prescribing data. Some others have databases with attitudinal data obtained from surveys. What makes AdvantageBuilder unique is how we have systematically captured in-depth attitudinal information and built models to connect how these attitudes translate to prescribing behaviors (our approach is so unique that we even have a patent on it). Specifically, we have been:
- Systematic. We have used a consistent group of core questions across brands, therapeutic categories, product lifecycles, and time. This has enabled us to build robust predictive models from a very large, consistent and comparable dataset. This is in contrast to custom research companies who often re-invent questions for every project. (Note that we will ask custom questions for clients, but we ask these in addition to our core questions that help translate attitudes to behavior).
- Holistic. We have tracked all of the major
"forces" that affect prescribing decisions, including promotion in the
field, managed care, patients, and products (yours and competitors).
Tracking all forces over time has allowed us to build a model that can
isolate each individual force from the others (unlike other companies who
typically track only one force, such as promotion). For example,
TargetRx's predictive model for promotion was built by isolating the
impact of promotion on NRx from the impact of Payors, Patients, and
Products.

- Longitudinal. By systematically tracking attitudes and prescribing behaviors for almost a decade, among many brands and market changes, we have built validated models that are proven to work for a wide variety of market events and therapeutic categories (both retail and non-retail).
